There are two options of pursuing adoption available in Kansas:

1. Private or independent adoptions, usually assisted through an intermediary such as an attorney or social worker.
2. Agency adoptions which are facilitated through state-licensed agencies.

Both offer choices with regard to confidentiality or openness depending largely on the agency policies and the desires and comfort levels of the people involved.
