The attorney/agency generally provides profiles of adoptive couples; you can pick a profile and meet the couple (usually) before deciding.
If you do not want to know the couple, the attorney/agency will choose the couple for you.
Meetings and contacts with the adoptive couple are generally arranged through the attorney/agency. However, this needs to be discussed, as some couples prefer you to contact them directly.
Pre and post adoption contact should be discussed and agreed upon with the adoptive couple before birth of the child.
It is very important to provide as much medical information as you can to the adoptive couple for the welfare of your child.
You will be asked to sign a form drafted by the State of Kansas that requests specific medical information.
Unless it is an open adoption, the child does not have access to your name until the age of 18.
Upon the age of 18, the child can ask the court to release your name.
Your name will be kept confidential unless you consent to the release of this information.
